Vicodin?

Vicodin is a combination of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone, an opioid pain medicine, is available in the United States. Opioids are sometimes referred to as narcotics. Acetaminophen, a less potent pain reliever, increases the effects produced by hydrocodone.

This combination medicine relieves moderate to severe pain. This combination contains an opioid ( Hydrocodone ) and a nonopioid ( Acetaminophen). Hydrocodone changes the way your body responds to and feels pain. Acetaminophen is also effective in reducing a fever.

What are the advantages of Vicodin?

Hydrocodone can be used to treat moderate to moderately intense pain. According to studies, hydrocodone can be as effective or even more effective than codeine in suppressing cough and is nearly equivalent to morphine in pain.

Vicodin side effects

If you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Opioids can cause breathing problems and even death. A caregiver should administer naloxone or seek medical help if they notice you breathing slowly with long pauses or have blue lips.

Acetaminophen can cause severe and fatal skin reactions. This may happen even if you’ve taken it before and have yet to have a reply. Call your doctor immediately if you experience skin redness, blistering, or peeling.

If you experience:

  • Sighing, noisy breathing, shallow breathing, or breathing that stops while sleeping;
  • A feeling of light-headedness, as if you could pass out.
  • Confuse yourself with unusual thoughts or behaviors;
  • seizure (convulsions);
  • Easy bruising and bleeding
  • Infertility, missed menstrual periods;
  • Impotence, sexual issues, and loss of interest in sex are all symptoms of impotence.
  • Liver problems– nausea, upper abdominal pain, itching (itching of the skin), loss of appetite, and dark urine.
  • Low cortisol levels – nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite; dizziness; fatigue or weakness that worsens.
  • High serotonin levels–agitation, hallucinations; fever, sweating or shivering; fast heartbeat, muscle stiffness or twitching; loss of coordination.

Severe breathing problems are more common in elderly adults, those with wasting syndrome, and chronic breathing disorders.

Vicodin can cause a variety of side effects.

  • drowsiness, headache;
  • Constipation, upset stomach
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry mouth

Vicodin dosage

Adults usually take 1 to 2 capsules or tablets every 4 to 6 hrs.

What drugs, substances, or supplements interact with Vicodin

Alcohol and other sedatives can increase sedation and may even confuse. The liver may be harmed if you combine carbamazepine and acetaminophen.
